Monitoring Emergencies: Peru - 03/24/2017: Floods - Update

Light showers continue in the central highlands, affecting Andahuaylas and Ayacucho. There is a yellow alert at the national level and a red alert in Tumbes, Piura and Lambayeque with declared emergencies in Cajamarca, La Libertad, Ancash, Ica, Lima, Tumbes, Piura and Lambayeque. There are currently 29 health establishments rendered ineffective and a field hospital installed. 252,081 houses were fumigated and larva control was performed on 261,976 houses. The Ministry of Health mobilized 100 volunteers from universities and 30 vector control Brigades with the aim of preventing and controlling Aedes aegypti in the Palpa region. Personnel intervened in the districts of Palpa, Tibillo, Rio Grande, Santa Cruz and Llipata. Technical teams from the General Directorate for Environmental Health and Food Safety (DIGESA), CDC and the National Institute of Health from the Ministry of Health all support holistic prevention and control measures.
