Bishkek, Sept. 18, 2018. /Kabar/. The 4th meeting of the Ministries of Agriculture of the member-states of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) took place in Bishkek.
The agenda included 4 items: food safety programme; phytosanitary situation; approval of a plan of action for 2018-2019; informational message.
Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Food Industry and Melioration of Kyrgyzstan Erkinbek Choduev told that every country has a food safety programme.
“And once this programme is adopted, all the SCO countries should report on the situation concerning food safety in their country. Kyrgyzstan has a programme for the period of 2015-2017. Work on adopting a new programme for the period of 2018-2023 is underway. Our programme is different from those of other SCO countries in that it includes nutrition”, he said.
Choduev noted that the food safety programme comprises 9 names of products, of which Kyrgyzstan can provide only 3 (milk, potatoes, and cucurbits crops).
“Provision of the fourth good is at the stage of implementation – it is sugar”, he added.
There is an exchange of views with SCO partners on phytosanitary security issues.
