Rachel Zoe Debuts Her First Home Collections With The Pottery Barn Brands

Stylist, designer and entrepreneur Rachel Zoe is putting on a new fashionable hat: this time as a designer of home design. Her new collections for Pottery Barn Kids and Pottery Barn Teen arrive online and in store September 12 just in time for back to school shopping. It wasn’t hard for Zoe to choose the perfect partner for her first home collaboration as a longtime customer of the brand. “To me style does not stop at just the clothes you are wearing but by how you live your life. Expanding in the home space has always been something I’ve wanted to do, and I feel like I’m just getting started,” says Zoe.

The two lines feature sweet nursery and playroom decor elements and grown-up teen bedroom designs—both with that Rachel Zoe razzle dazzle. The founder of an eponymous fashion brand, who’s dressed the likes of Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Garner and Kate Hudson in her career, chose to use a soft pastel color palette of blush pink and ivory dotted with metallic gold and animal print accents. Lush textures abound for the furniture and accessories (think velvet quilts, a feathered mirror, sequined pillows and drapes and faux fur ottomans). “Decorating a home is a natural extension of my process as a designer and stylist, and I truly enjoy doing it,” says Zoe. “Your home should be a representation of who you are and your personality should shine through the different fabrics, textures and furniture you choose.”

For teenagers, Zoe designed a gold chain fringe shade lamp that’s perfect for a bedside table (there’s one of these in the collection too), desk or armoire and a chandelier for added glamour and an Art Deco feel. Furniture wise there’s a gold metal bookcase and white faux fur chair and of course leopard print bedding (Zoe loves a good animal print). For younger kiddos, a monochromatic animal print circular rug ($199), lamp ($159) and giraffe rocker and race car ($159) offer a fun balance to a muted palette and butterfly printed linens are sweet yet bold. “In my homes, I always have a classic color palette of black, white and metallics with luxe fabrics and textures,” says the businesswoman. “I love to accessorize a room with dramatic light fixtures and strong accent pieces.”

The well-priced collections are imbued with Rachel Zoe’s signature aesthetic across the board and showcases easy pieces that can be inserted into any space. “It's the perfect representation of effortless glamour that is demonstrated across the core of all my brands,” she says. “I wanted it to feel incredibly glamorous but still warm, inviting, and dreamlike.” Zoe, who showed off her Beverly Hills digs in the 2008-2013 Bravo reality show The Rachel Zoe Project, shares some great decor tips that can be applied to any interior like mixing textures and adding character with accessories to make a room pop. “Keep your investment pieces neutral and then decorate around those items with luxe textures and metallic accents,” she suggests. “Rooms should be unique to your individual style but to maintain a feeling of timelessness. It’s important because then the room can transcend time or trends.”

As a mother of two active boys (aged 8 and 5), Zoe was careful not to create bedrooms and play spaces that were too fussy and precious and she also enlisted their advice in the design process. “Having two sons who love nothing more than to run around, I make sure there are plenty of creative and fun areas both indoors and outdoors in my house for them to play with their friends.” says Zoe. “Both of their bedrooms are very unique to their individual interests and I wanted that aesthetic to be a part of this collaboration as well.”
