An Arkansas-based company is recalling about 2 million pounds of poultry products in several states, including Oklahoma, because they may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically metal, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.Simmons Prepared Foods Inc., a Gentry, Arkansas, establishment, is recalling about 2,071,397 pounds of poultry items produced from Oct. 21, 2019, through Nov. 4, 2019. Click here to see the labels of the products being recalled. The products subject to recall bear establishment number “P-1949,” “P- 486” or “P-5837” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to institutions in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Georgia, Minnesota, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania.The problem was discovered by Simmons Prepared Foods, Inc. establishments during further processing. Officials said there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a health care provider. FSIS officials said they are concerned that some product may be frozen and in institutional freezers. Institutions that have purchased these products are urged not to serve them.
