DUNKIRK Getting answers on city project

For the second time within a month, the Dunkirk Senior Citizens are meeting to discuss the proposed work on its facility at 45 Cliffstar Court. The upgrades are part of a $750,000 grant from New York state that was presented last year to the organization.

However, there is some anxiety from many regarding just how much room is needed — and if the senior group will be losing some of what it has built over the years. Tuesday’s meeting will likely address these concerns.

Guests attending include: Dunkirk Mayor Wilfred Rosas; members of the current City Council and the incoming City Council; Mary Ann Spanos, director of the Chautauqua County Office for the Aging and Frank Bercik, executive director of Chautauqua Adult Day Services.

To their credit, the Dunkirk Senior Citizens are being proactive in looking for answers before the work begins. They deserve that respect — and full transparency — in Tuesday’s gathering.
