Dr. Michael Weber was named the North Dakota American Choral Directors Association (NDACDA) Choral Director of the Year at the recent NDACDA State Conference in Grand Forks. Dr. Weber, Professor of Choral Activities at North Dakota State University, conducts the Madrigal Singers and The Statesmen of NDSU and teaches classes in choral conducting, choral literature and music education. Under the direction of Dr. Weber, the Madrigal Singers performed in the conference’s Showcase Concert.
North Dakota State University graduate Kacie McCarthy is the recipient of the 2020 Young Scholar Award from the Midwest Section of the American Society of Animal Science (ASAS). McCarthy, now a beef cow-calf specialist in the Animal Science Department at the University of Nebraska, received the award at the joint Midwest ASAS and American Dairy Science Association meeting in Omaha, Neb. The award recognizes and features the research accomplishments of recent Ph.D. graduates or current Ph.D. students in the advanced stages of their program.
Addison Hoornaert, a senior at Carrington High School is the winner of the 2019 Good Citizen Scholarship Essay Contest. Hoornaert will receive her awards and scholarship funds at the annual May Luncheon of the Dacotah Chapter of DAR. Addison is also the winner of the North Dakota State DAR scholarship.
