Willis is charged with failure to stop for blue lights and sirens, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, possession of a machine gun, and resisting arrest. Williams is charged with possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.

Deputies of the K9 Unit were patrolling the area of College Park Road and observed a vehicle driving that resembled a recently stolen vehicle from North Charleston. The driver of the vehicle was wearing a ski mask.

Deputies pulled behind the vehicle and it immediately made a lane change and entered a Food Lion parking lot off of College Park Road. Deputies confirmed the vehicle was stolen and proceeded to try and make a traffic stop.

The driver, Willis, did not stop the vehicle and a pursuit was enacted. Deputies followed the vehicle into College Park Estates.

Willis came to a stop on Kentucky Drive and four people exited the vehicle. Deputies noticed that Willis was holding a tan firearm as he exited the vehicle.

Williams, who was sitting in the back seat, exited the vehicle and laid on the ground.

A Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office K9 and his handler chased Willis on foot but was quickly apprehended. Deputies learned that Willis threw the firearm under a nearby car. After investigating, deputies say the firearm was previously converted from a semi-automatic to a fully automatic firearm.

Deputies also found an AR rifle in the backseat next to where Williams was sitting. The rifle had an obliterated serial number and was spray-painted.

Willis remains at the Hill-Finklea Detention Center on a $20,500 bond for his charges. Williams has since been released after receiving a $2,000 surety bond on his charge.
