A viral American food influencer dined at an Edinburgh Indian restaurant and rated their butter chicken as one of the best he's ever tasted.

Kalani Ghost Hunter, a Hawaiian food influencer with over three million followers and 38 million likes on TikTok, visited Namaste Kathmandu.

The family owned restaurant Indian and Nepalese on Forrest Road has operated since 2007 and is famed for its lamb saag, among other mouth-watering dishes.

Kalani spoke to his millions of loyal fans in a video posted to TikTok, saying: "Tonight we're in Edinburgh, Scotland trying a Nepali Indian restaurant. I've heard incredible things about it."

First the viral critic tried the popadoms, which Namaste Kathmandu chefs are known for. Instead of frying the dough flat in oil, they quickly fold the dough into a triangle shape, a skilled technique.

Kalani said it was the "loudest crunch ever" from popadoms.

Next he tucked into a traditional Nepalese street food called momo, which are dumplings stuffed with meat or vegetables. The critic rated the appetiser a 9.7 out of 10.

But the main courses stole the show for Kalani when he ordered a dish called "The Sizzler" which waitstaff served with a shot of Jack Daniel's set alight on the table.

Next was the eatery's famous butter chicken. Kalani noted the colour and spices in the sauce.

He commented: "That's a beautiful colour. This is in my top three of butter chickens I've ever had. I'm going to give it a 9.9. Absolutely phenomenal."
