EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — The Salvation Army's annual War on Hunger campaign is set to kick off on Friday, April 4 at Schnucks locations in the area.
Last year, The Salvation Army provided over 155,000 meals to residents of Vanderburgh, Warrick, and Posey counties. The organization is calling for community support to continue feeding those in need.
"The Salvation Army is thrilled to partner with Schnucks grocery stores in our annual War on Hunger Campaign," said Capt. Brandon Lewis with The Salvation Army. He emphasized the importance of donations in making a difference locally.
On April 4 and 5, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., volunteers will be available at six Schnucks locations. They will distribute lists of needed items for The Salvation Army's food programs and accept donations.
The participating Schnucks locations include Lawndale, Newburgh, Lynch Rd, Darmstadt, West Side, and First Ave. These food programs are essential for many community members, offering stability during crises or when support systems are lacking.
