GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - Thursday marks six months since a pub in Guntersville was badly damaged in a partial building collapse.

Since that collapse, new owners have taken over the building and are working to make the pub their own.

Those new owners are hoping to open the building this May.

Drew and Caitlin Allen now own what was Pub 412 along Old Town Street. The couple has been busy making extensive renovations ahead of that target date.

The 412 Pub owners were in the middle of selling their bar to the Allens when the roof caved in last fall.

Before this work started, there were shattered windows throughout the building, along with broken furniture that had fallen from the top floor to the bottom floor of the building.

The new pub will be called “Cash Allen”

The Allens said the second story of Pub 412 was mainly used for office and storage space, and now the couple plans to utilize that space as the bar area.

The goal is to allow people to have an alcoholic drink while looking out over the lake.

There are also plans to add a full kitchen area for people to enjoy a burger and fries with their drink.

The downstairs area of the pub will also include a full pool hall.

Caitlin Allen said she hopes the community enjoys the new pub.

“Initially I was like, ‘oh no,’ but now we’ve seen so much positivity come out of it,” said Allen. ”I think it’s been really cool for us to make some connections in the community. We’ve been able to apply not only some feedback that we’ve heard from the place previously but also apply some things that we’ve heard or desired around here while everything is getting rebuilt.”

Caitlin Allen said she’s excited to learn more about the Guntersville community once the pub opens.

“We tried to make a place we would want to come to if we didn’t own it,” said Allen. ”We are so excited with what we’ve heard as far as the volume of tourism, locals, fishing tournament,s and all the fun stuff that Guntersville has to offer.”
