Now, he’s selling his five-bedroom Georgian house in Melbourne’s inner city with a $10.5m-$11.5m price guide and built in the 1930s.
Property records show his wife’s name was originally on the title — who purchased the abode for $3.4m in 2007 — before it was transferred into Mr MacLaren’s name in 2021.

While Melbourne Sotheby’s International Realty Stonnington managing director Antoinette Nido declined to comment on who the sellers were, she said the home’s location was one of its major drawcards.
“The location is 100m from the Botanic Gardens … it is in absolutely the best part of the Domain precinct,” Ms Nido said.
“It would be ideal as a low maintenance city base, or big enough for a family that have got their children at the schools and just enjoy the lifestyle.”
She added that the mansion had an elegance about it with all the contemporary features.
Ms Nido said she expected the listing would attract Toorak downsizers or upsizes that wanted to be in the Domain precinct as well as international buyers.

This comes after the legal bigwig purchased another South Yarra property on the same street in April last year for $18m from neurosurgeon Richard Bittar and his wife, clinical psychologist Renee Bittar.
Expressions of interest for Mr MacLaren’s South Yarra sale close at 1pm, April 29.
