In his statement, Coleman listed several of his accomplishments, including "Renovating Security Mall, Bringing in the Grocery Outlet to Liberty Road," and "Striking a record agreement with the Howard Johnson hotel in Pikesville," among others.

Coleman also criticized other NAACP groups in the area, saying "the Baltimore County branch of the NAACP never wanted to work with the Randallstown branch. The State of Maryland NAACP Chapter, with this new administration, chose to criticize our accomplishments instead of supporting them. The Baltimore City branch bristled every time there was clear proof of violence from Baltimore City which affected Baltimore County."

Coleman said he looks forward to spending more time with his family and friends, but said he plans to remain active in the community as well.
