It’s just the mad hatter party trying to desperately resurrect the “safer waterways bill “ which was thrown out the last two times they tried! Because it’s based on hysteria not facts nor science, just a desire to play with guns ! The bill hasn’t gone through just proposed! It’s been proven, like it or not , by scientists (not the facebook kind) that culling increases complacency and hence makes the waters more dangerous. Because it’s how we behave that’s the issue. In countries with far less crocs but no croc wise education the fatalities are way way worse. We have the best croc wise education in the world and it’s proven to work . There’s many ways to die but by crocs is way down the list , because education works ! Sorry for all the trigger happy you will have to go shoot some thing else.

Why is it that, in Australia we wait until dangerous predators such as crocodiles and sharks come to a point when they no longer fear humans? I remember a time when you would approach a crocodile and it would take off like a rocket. Cull them in the wild and breed them like livestock on farms.

Culling some crocs to reduce numbers does not make it safer. Whether is 1 croc or 20, the danger is still there, you can’t swim. Also crocs move so they will just move in again so there is less competition for food. It’s up to people to not make themselves food. Not the crocs to not eat. It’s eradicate them all or don’t bother, which is very unfair and harmful to the ecosystem. It boggles my mind how some of our species can be so arrogant and disrespectful to our ancestors. Crocs = 200 MILLION years. Homo sapiens = 250 thousand-ish years. It’s also functionally impossible for an ecosystem to have a plague of an apex predator. Predator numbers are directly related to the health of the ecosystem around them (ie available food). If you think otherwise you don’t understand the rules of this planet. Their population is merely recovering. There is no such thing as an “out of control” croc population.

Absolutely cull where they have moved into popular swimming spots in Mossman where they have never been like years ago. Without management - the croc numbers just keep on increasing. It’s a NO brainer to rid crocs in our local area to allow for swimming spots which are also unique to our area. To hell with all the stupid comments of people who say it is croc territory and the humans should stay out. Well yes partly- but small known popular swimming spots where there have never been- crocs need to be culled - and No another one won’t move in as they only move during floods to search new territory. Change laws to allow culling.

I was raised in the NT in the 1970s when culling crocodiles was widespread and we swam safely in the ocean without ever hearing about crocs. Different story now. Obviously they are a native species and need to be protected as culling in the past has left them endangered but we have the opposite problem now. From personal experience I think a monitored culling/egg-removal program would be beneficial in reducing numbers so that we may all enjoy swimming in the beautiful beaches of Queensland not just the crocs.

Definitely harvest the eggs as they do in the northern Territory, no culling or hunting ,people need to learn to stay out of the water learn about crocs respect crocs.

You can't remove the apex predators without some serious problems for the eco system of the waterways being created. We all know that there's Crocodiles in the rivers and creeks. We just need to use common sense.

Croc lovers can't have it all their own way , crocs turn up in places during floods , then they say ohhhh leave them alone, the greens & the Labor Mob have been protecting them, they are way tooo dangerous not to have some form of control. Croc lovers r out of control.
