Roshni Nadar, the chairperson of HCL Technologies, has achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the first Indian woman to rank among the top 10 richest women in the world. Her net worth is Rs 3.5 lakh crore (US$40 billion). In the Hurun Global Rich List 2025, she is ranked fifth among the wealthiest women in the world.
After Roshni’s father, Shiv Nadar, gave her a 47 per cent share in HCL Technologies, she became one of India’s most powerful billionaires, marking this milestone. She is now the third-richest individual in India in 2025.

Roshni Nadar is the chairperson of HCL Technologies, a leading international technology company with a $48 billion market valuation. She also heads the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Board Committee of the corporation.
Roshni Nadar graduated from Northwestern University. She earned her MBA from the Kellogg School of Management, where she was honoured with the Schaffner Award in 2023 for her charitable work. She is a trustee of the Shiv Nadar Foundation, which manages more than $1.2 billion in leadership and education programs. Her involvement with VidyaGyan, an Uttar Pradesh leadership institution that develops gifted children from low-income families, is also quite strong.
In addition to the global board of The Nature Conservancy, Roshni is a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council at the MIT School of Engineering. Since 2017, she has been listed among the top 100 women in the world by Forbes, and in 2024, she received France’s Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur.
This year, 561 women are featured on the Hurun Global Rich List, 224 of them are self-made, demonstrating the increasing presence of women in prominent economic positions across the globe. The other notable women in the world’s top are as follows:

Jacqueline Mars (USA) – US$53 billion
The thriving worldwide pet food market was a major factor in the Mars Inc. heiress’s 33 per cent wealth growth.
Julia Koch & Family (USA) – US$60 billion
Businessman and political activist, David Koch, passed away, leaving Julia Koch with her money. Her family’s investment in Koch Industries is still producing substantial profits.
Abigail Johnson (USA) – US$32 billion
Johnson increased her wealth by 14 per cent while serving as CEO of Fidelity Investments, which amassed assets under management of nearly US$400 billion.
