How Patanjali is helping farmers and improving agriculture sector

Patanjali's new mega food and herbal park in Nagpur signifies a major step towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat. The Rs 1,500 crore project aims to empower Indian farmers by providing fair prices for their produce (like Giloy, Amla, and Honey), boosting local agricultural capacity, and creating employment.

New Delhi: Patanjali Ayurveda has become one of India’s leading brands in natural and herbal products in India. Recently, Patanjali inaugurated a mega food and herbal park in Nagpur. The project is aimed at strengthening local agricultural capacity, creating employment opportunities and helping the country in achieving the goal of Aatmanirbhar.

For manufacturing products, Patanjali buys the raw materials from Indian farmers. The company buys products like Giloy, Amla, Honey and Aloe Vera from the farmers so that the latter gets a fair price for their crops. This initiative of Baba Ramdev and Acahrya Balkrishna has jhelped the farmers economically.

Swami Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna have transformed Patanjali Ayurveda into the FMCG sector of India. Patanjali provides food and other ayurveda products at reasonable prices. From health supplements to herbal medicines, all their personal care and food products are said to be natural and ayurvedic. Patanjali has built a niche for itself as crores of people have abandoned foreign brands and chose to buy Patanjali products.

Initially, Patanjali started its business with health-focused products like honey, herbal juices, Later, it started manufacturing and selling biscuits, dairy products, shampoos, toothpaste, skincare and hair care products. Patanjali also produces ayurvedic medicines, immunity boosters and organic supplements.

The Patanjali Mega Food and Herbal Park in Mihan, Nagpur, which has been established with a total investment of Rs 1,500 crore, is expected to play a vital role in improving agricultural processing and production. Patanjali’s aim is to increase the income of farmers, promote herbal farming and expand the reach of the company across India. Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna-led Patanjali want the Mega Food and Herbal Park to support local farmers by providing better market access for their produce. The company is actively working towards reducing dependence on imported goods and promoting domestic, chemical-free products.
