Crossbow, knife and drugs found during stop-and-search in Wolverhampton park

A crossbow was found by police in a Wolverhampton park, resulting in two arrests.
Police on patrol in Fowler’s Park in Park Village on Sunday, April 13, when they came across two young men who aroused suspicion when they tried to leave the area.
They were stopped and searched and weapons and drugs were found.

Officers recovered a crossbow, a knife and substances believed to be cannabis and class A drugs.
A 17-year-old and a 20-year-old were brought into police custody for questioning, arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs and possession of an offensive weapon.
The teenager was also arrested on suspicion of possession of class B or C drugs and possession of items to endanger life.
West Midlands Police said they remained in police custody this afternoon.

The officers who made the arrest were part of Project Guardian, a specialist taskforce dedicated to tackling knife crime and youth violence.
The taskforce aims to reduce knife crime in under 25-year-olds, through a range of tactics from plain-clothed operations to high visibility patrols.
