CINCINNATI (WKRC) - A public health alert and recall was issued for a dozen soup and bowl products that may be contaminated with wood.
The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued the alert on Friday after it was notified that an FDA-regulated ingredient, cilantro, had been recalled due to possible contamination from a foreign material.
According to the release, the recalled ingredient was used in multiple soup and bowl products, including:
- Frozen Molly's Kitchen White Bean Chicken Chili, 12 lb., establishment number: P-17644, use by date: Oct. 09, 2026
- Frozen Molly's Kitchen Cheesy Chicken Enchilada Soup, 16 lb., establishment number: P-17644, use by date: Oct. 07, 2026
- Frozen Molly's Kitchen Baja Cheesy Chicken Enchilada Soup, 32 lb., establishment number: P-17644, use by date: Oct. 28, 2026; Dec. 11, 2026
- Frozen Sysco Chicken Tortilla Soup, 12 lb., establishment number: P-17644, use by date: Nov. 10, 2026
- Frozen Healthy Request Mexican Style Chicken Tortilla Soup, 12 lb., establishment number: P-17644, use by date: Oct. 27, 2026

"Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them and institutions are urged not to serve these products," the release said. "These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase."
The FSIS said that many of the products would likely have been kept in customers' freezers and encouraged those who believe they may have purchased one of the affected items to check their refrigerators.
