SPOKANE, Wash. — The 2025 Greater Spokane League Scholar-Athlete Luncheon on SWX recognized 34 standout student-athletes from all 17 GSL high schools for their academic achievements, athletic success, and community service. Below are the honorees from each school.
Central Valley High School
- Ellie Taylor: 4.0 GPA. Earned six varsity letters (two slow-pitch softball, four fast-pitch softball). First-team All-GSL slow-pitch as a senior, All-GSL Honorable Mention fast-pitch as a junior. Volunteers with Spokane Valley Partners and Special Olympics. Will attend Utah State University on a full-tuition scholarship to study mechanical engineering with an aerospace emphasis.
- Beau Butner: 4.0 GPA. Earned eight varsity letters (four football, four soccer). First-team All-GSL football as a senior, GSL Offensive MVP, set a league single-game rushing record (367 yards), first-team All-State. First-team All-GSL soccer as a sophomore and junior. Volunteers with food drives and youth football camps. Will attend Carroll College on a full-ride football scholarship to study pre-med.
Cheney High School
- Hannah Ward: 4.0 GPA. Earned nine varsity letters (three cross country, two basketball, four track and field). Placed 15th at 3A state cross country in 2025, first-team All-GSL, team MVP as a senior. Volunteers teaching Sunday School. Will attend University of Idaho on a track scholarship to major in biology.
- Alma Smith: 3.83 GPA. Earned eight varsity letters (one cross country, three diving, four track and field). Three-time state diving qualifier, two-time 3A state champion, three-time GSL MVP. Sixth in pole vault at state track. Mentors younger athletes. Will attend California State University, Bakersfield, on a diving scholarship to study biochemistry.
Clarkston High School
- Ryann Combs: 4.0 GPA. Earned 11 varsity letters (one volleyball, two cheer, four basketball, four softball). Basketball honorable mention as a junior and senior, led softball team to a 21-1 record and state appearance as a junior. Logged over 200 hours of community service. Will attend Lewis-Clark State College on a presidential scholarship to study nursing.
- Josh Hoffman: 3.92 GPA. Earned eight varsity letters (four football, three basketball, one track). Three-time first-team All-GSL football, helped team to two league titles and a state tournament win. Volunteers at Idaho Food Bank and youth sports. Will attend Carroll College on academic and athletic scholarships to study civil engineering.
Deer Park High School
- Brooklyn Coe: 3.86 GPA. Earned nine varsity letters (four basketball, two cross country, three track and field). Three-time first-team All-League basketball, two-time All-State. Volunteers at elementary schools and Unified Sports. Plans to play college basketball and study special education.
- Dillon Mareth: 4.0 GPA. Earned nine varsity letters (four football, three wrestling, two golf). Second-team All-League wrestling, academic state champion. Volunteers with wrestling and DECA. Will attend Montana State University on a scholarship to study electrical engineering.
East Valley High School
- Rachel Metge: 4.0 GPA. Earned 10 varsity letters (four cross country, two track, two FFA, two academics). Two-time state cross country qualifier, first-team All-GSL. Volunteers at church youth programs. Will attend Brigham Young University on a partial scholarship.
- Weston Fracz: 3.87 GPA. Earned six varsity letters (two football, four soccer). First-team All-GSL soccer as a junior, first-team All-GSL kicker in football as a senior. Eagle Scout with extensive community service. Plans to study athletic training and attend chiropractic school.
Ferris High School
- Estelle Moffitt: 4.0 GPA. Earned four varsity letters (two track and field, two basketball). Part of 4A academic state championship basketball team. Logged over 100 hours of community service, including as a camp counselor. Has merit scholarships to study medicine at University of Washington or University of San Diego.
- Luke Roland: 3.98 GPA. Earned eight varsity letters (three basketball, four tennis, one cross country). First-team All-GSL basketball as a senior, Spokane Showcase MVP. Volunteers with church youth groups. Will attend BYU on a full-tuition scholarship to study engineering.
Gonzaga Prep High School
- Olivia McIntyre: 3.8 GPA. Earned eight varsity letters (four basketball, four track). First-team All-GSL basketball as a senior, All-State tournament team. First-team All-GSL track, holds school relay records. Volunteers at basketball camps. Will attend University of Redlands on a scholarship to study psychology.
- Jaeger Grimsby: 3.8 GPA. Earned seven varsity letters (three football, four track). First-team All-GSL football, helped team to fourth at state. Volunteers at YMCA Camp Reed. Will attend trade school to become an electrician.
Lewis & Clark High School
- Gwenyth Bafus: 3.97 GPA. Four-year varsity soccer player, captain as a junior and senior. Volunteers with food insecurity programs. Will attend Washington State University to study nursing.
- Mikey Mann: 4.2 GPA. Earned seven varsity letters (two football, one soccer, four wrestling). Two-time second-team All-GSL football, 4A district wrestling champion. Volunteers at food banks and youth ministry. Will attend University of Washington to study bioengineering.
Mead High School
- Dezlyn Lundquist: 4.0 GPA. Earned nine varsity letters (two cross country, three gymnastics, four track). State gymnastics finalist, two-time Nike Outdoor Nationals pole vault placer. Volunteers at church and gymnastics camps. Will attend George Fox or Azusa Pacific to study nursing.
- Jaeland Leman: 4.0 GPA. Earned seven varsity letters (three football, four track). Second-team All-GSL football, part of 3A state championship track team. Volunteers with food banks and youth football. Will attend George Fox on scholarships to study kinesiology.
Mt. Spokane High School
- Abby Priddy: 3.9 GPA. Earned eight varsity letters (four basketball, three volleyball, one track). Basketball team captain, volleyball team reached state three years. Volunteers at youth camps and ALS community. Will attend Northwest Nazarene on a basketball scholarship to study kinesiology.
- Parker Westermann: 3.98 GPA. Earned eight varsity letters (four cross country, four track). Three-time All-State cross country, placed sixth at state as a senior. Volunteers at food banks and tutors students. Will attend Colorado State on scholarships to study environmental engineering.
North Central High School
- Brooklyn Lawrence: 3.99 GPA. Earned nine varsity letters (three cross country, three gymnastics, three track). State gymnastics finalist, ranked fourth in state pole vault. Volunteers with National Honor Society. Will attend University of Washington to study architecture.
- Zachary Schlettert: 4.0 GPA. Earned nine varsity letters (three football, two basketball, four track). Two-time state basketball qualifier, ranked third in district pole vault. Volunteers at elementary schools. Will attend University of Washington to study applied math.
Pullman High School
- Faith Sampson: 3.97 GPA. Earned nine varsity letters (two soccer, three bowling, three golf). First-team All-Conference golf, district champion. Volunteers with WSU zero-waste events and youth soccer. Will attend Pacific University on scholarships to study biochemistry.
- Samuel Sears: 3.26 GPA. Earned 11 varsity letters (three football, four track, four wrestling). First-team All-League football, fourth at state wrestling. Volunteers with church community services. Will attend BYU-Idaho in 2027 to study history and welding after a mission.
Ridgeline High School
- Rahni Greene: 4.0 GPA. Earned four varsity letters (two basketball, two volleyball). First-team All-GSL volleyball, part of 3A state championship team. Volunteers at youth sports camps. Will attend Cal Poly Humboldt on a volleyball scholarship to study pre-medicine.
- Daden Lewis: 4.0 GPA. Earned nine varsity letters (four football, four track, one band). Second-team All-GSL football, holds school discus record. Volunteers at community events. Will attend Texas Christian University on a scholarship to study mechanical engineering.
John R. Rogers High School
- Hayley Ying: 4.37 GPA. Earned nine varsity letters (three volleyball, three basketball, three track). SWX Athlete of the Week, Spokane Scholar for Science. Volunteers at Union Gospel Mission and church. Will attend Wellesley College on a full-ride scholarship to study psychology.
- Daniel Rodriguez Villarreal: 3.92 GPA. Earned seven varsity letters (four cross country, three track). Two-time first-team All-GSL cross country. Volunteers as a teacher assistant and translator. Plans to study accounting at Pacific Lutheran or Gonzaga.
Shadle Park High School
- Josie Anselmo: 3.8 GPA. Earned nine varsity letters (two gymnastics, three cheer, four track). Two-time state pole vault champion. Volunteers at elementary schools and cheer clinics. Will attend Eastern Washington University to study sports management.
- Carson Eickstadt: 4.25 GPA. Earned 10 varsity letters (four football, four basketball, two track). Two-time first-team All-GSL football, team captain. Volunteers with booster club and athlete awards night. Will attend Carroll College on scholarships to study civil engineering.
University High School
- Libby Roberts: 3.88 GPA. Earned nine varsity letters (one track, four cross country, four wrestling). Four-time GSL Wrestler of the Year, four-time state champion, 95-3 record. Volunteers with Unified Sports. Will wrestle collegiately while studying health sciences.
- Ryan Sulpizio: 3.99 GPA. Earned nine varsity letters (two football, three wrestling, four track). First-team All-GSL wrestling, eighth at state. Volunteers at church and wrestling club. Plans to study engineering or biology.
West Valley High School
- Macy Osborn: 4.0 GPA. Earned 10 varsity letters (four volleyball, two basketball, four track). Valedictorian, logged over 300 service hours, including at hospitals. Will attend Tulane University on a scholarship to study cell and molecular biology.
- Andrew Royston: 3.65 GPA. Earned seven varsity letters (four wrestling, three football). Two-time first-team All-GSL football, state wrestling placer. Volunteers at church and youth programs. Will attend Whitworth University on a scholarship to play football.
