
Students from the St. Clair County Technical Education Center earned 19 medals at the 2025 SkillsUSA Michigan State Leadership and Skills Conference, which took place April 11 to 13 in Grand Rapids.
A total of 67 TEC students from eight career programs participated in the state-level competition, with 19 earning medals across various contests, according to the St. Clair County Regional Educational Service Agency, or RESA.
Students Lucas Bauman and Allane Stamplis took home gold and will advance to the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, from June 23 to 27.
SkillsUSA is a national nonprofit organization serving more than 310,000 high school and college students preparing for careers in trade, technical and skilled service occupations. The annual competition recognizes the nation’s best career and technical education students and evaluates their mastery of real-world, industry-aligned challenges.
“We are extremely proud of our students for their dedication and hard work,” St. Clair County RESA CTE Director/TEC Principal Lesley Murphy said in the release. “Their achievements reflect hours of after-school practice and the incredible support of our TEC instructors and instructional technicians.”
Here’s a look at the students who medaled.
• Automotive Technology: Maintenance and Light Repair: Zachary Chisholm, 11th grade, Memphis High School, bronze; Automotive Service Technology: Shane Darga, 12th grade, Yale High School/BWMC, bronze.
• Collision Repair Technology: Collision Repair Technology: Michael Heffron, 12th grade, Yale High School, silver.
• Cosmetology: Mannequin: Lauren Zink, 11th grade, Yale High School, bronze; Esthetics: Alexandria Brooks, 12th grade, Algonac High School, and Carmen Delgado (model), 12th grade, Yale High School, silver; Nail Care: Adrianna Gable, 12th grade, Algonac High School, and Victoria French (model), 12th grade, Port Huron Northern High School, bronze.
• Culinary Arts: Baking and Pastry Arts: Sylviana Tynes, 12th grade, Port Huron Northern High School, bronze; Culinary Arts: Carter Schulte, 12th grade, Marine City High School, bronze.
• Digital Media Technology: Audio/Radio Production: Samantha Moody, 12th grade, Yale High School, and Marissa Richmond, 12th grade, Yale High School, silver.
• Engineering and Robotics: Robotics and Automation: James Farnsworth, 12th grade, Port Huron High School, and Jocelyn Forsythe, 12th grade, St. Clair High School, silver.
• Metal Machining: CNC 5-Axis Milling Programmer: Lucas Bauman, 12th grade, Memphis High School, gold.
• Welding: Welding Sculpture: Allie Stamplis, 12th grade, St. Clair High School, gold; Welding Fabrication: Casimer Carty, 12th grade, Marysville High School, Mykah Lawson, 12th grade, Marysville High School, and Alejandro Rios, 12th grade, Algonac High School, bronze.
