The announcement comes a few weeks after the grocer announced plans to open a new Ellenville, N.Y., store in a former ShopRite

Tops Friendly Markets is spending $4.4 million to remodel two stores—located in Fayetteville and Manlius, N.Y.—and expects to have the projects completed in late summer or early fall, the Williamsville, N.Y.-based grocery chain announced Monday.
The news follows Tops’ announcement in late March that it is opening a new store at a former ShopRite location in Ellenville, N.Y., which is expected to cost about $2 million to renovate. The 46,750-square-foot Ellenville location is expected to open in mid-June.
Tops said the two existing locations will get substantial upgrades, costing roughly $2.25 million for the 62,000-square-foot Fayetteville store at 350 Towne Dr. and $2.15 million for the 41,000-square-foot Manlius store at 119 West Seneca St.
The remodels will include:
• Modern interior décor and paint
• New flooring
• Self-checkouts
• Renovated restrooms
• Upgraded LED lighting
• Expanded deli and Carry Out Cafés with Boar’s Head, fresh sushi, a Marketplace Deli, and meals to go
• A new bakery department
• New shopping carts
• New health and natural/organics offerings
“We’re proud to invest in these remodels that will bring an updated, more convenient, and enjoyable shopping experience to our customers,” said Tops Friendly Markets President Ron Ferri in a press release. “These enhancements are designed with our shoppers in mind, offering more fresh food options, time-saving amenities, and a more modern environment overall.”
Tops employs over 14,000 associates and operates 152 stores across New York, Pennsylvania, and Vermont.
